“Valuable and Useful Knowledge for Successful Career Development”

This year’s semester of the DBSC Roundtable’s Business Service Basics series has concluded

On the second Wednesday of December, the Debrecen BSC Roundtable's series of presentations entitled Business Service Basics concluded with a live Coffee Talk. As reported in a related article on the homepage of the University of Debrecen, the course was a great success again this year, with more than 120 students participating this academic year, bringing the total number of students who have taken part in the courses in recent years to over 500.

On behalf of the Debrecen BSC Round Table, we asked Éva Kissné Nyéki, Project Manager of the Debrecen BSC Roundtable, about the basics of the lecture series and asked her to briefly summarise the last semester:

"For 3 years now we have been running training courses at the University of Debrecen. For the first semester of the academic year 2021/22, we have offered business courses in English, Hungarian and Dutch at the University of Debrecen, where students can learn from the leaders and professionals of the Roundtable's member companies how to be more effective in the world of work.

Over a semester, students will attend 11-12 lectures, where they can learn through real examples and experiences about the skills needed to succeed in international business, what everyday life is like in a multinational environment, and how to build an international career from Debrecen. We believe that’s why the course can be successful over the years, and it may be the reason why places fill up almost immediately after the announcement of the current lecture series."

As to why the training itself is important and what the basic concept of the courses is, Eva said:

"Large companies in the business services sector consider a strategic priority of supporting domestic education. For the members of the Roundtable, it is of paramount importance to have students and graduates who are fluent in foreign languages. To meet the ever-changing needs of the industry, our courses are constantly evolving, as it is important to provide young people with valuable and usable knowledge to help them build successful careers. Student feedback is as important to us as industry expectations. Our goal is to provide students with this knowledge, which is essential in the world of work, in a way that is as accessible as possible, with as many up-to-date examples and experiences as possible.

This is the purpose of our now traditional "Coffee Talk" events, which this year also served as the final event of the Hungarian course. At the last event, we explored the question: what is the key to success? During these panel discussions, we always address a topical issue, talking to experts from the sector, and even looking at several aspects. This gives us a more complete picture of the sector."

The companies that make up the Round Table, which this year, in addition to the lecture series, have jointly supported the Blue Bucket campaign of the Dorcas Ministries, plan to continue the training in the form of university courses, professional workshops, and lectures. It is worth keeping an eye on the DBSC Roundtable's social media platforms and website for the latest information.
